What does Layer 9 do?
UK web hosting, SMTP relay and web design. One company and one team, from the servers up to the site.
Can I sign up online?
Yes. Hosting plans, SMTP relay plans and domain names can be ordered in the client portal. Web design is quoted per project, so start with a message.
Web hosting
How do I manage my hosting?
Through the Panel9 control panel: DNS, mailboxes, databases, backups and one-click WordPress. If you get stuck, open a ticket and an engineer will help.
Where are the servers?
Primary infrastructure is in UK datacentres, for latency and data residency.
Can you move my existing site?
Yes, at no extra cost. We move files and databases and help with the DNS change.
Which PHP versions do you run?
PHP 7.4 and 8.x, with MariaDB databases. You can switch version per site in Panel9.
SMTP relay
What can I send through the SMTP relay?
Transactional and system mail from websites and applications: receipts, password resets, notifications. Bulk marketing is not in scope.
Will it work with my app?
If it speaks SMTP, yes: WordPress, Laravel, Node and the rest. STARTTLS and direct TLS are both supported.
Do you set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC?
Yes. We configure the records on your sending domain so messages authenticate.
Web design
Do you build websites as well as host them?
Yes. We design, build and launch the site on our hosting, with support after go-live.
How much does a website cost?
Design work is quoted per project. Tell us what you need and we will come back with a clear proposal.
Support
How do I get support?
Email [email protected] or open a ticket in the client portal. Direct support runs 07:00–18:00 daily, critical issues are acknowledged within 4 hours, and the ticket queue is open 24/7.
What is the uptime SLA?
99.9% on applicable hosting services. The full text is in the legal hub.
